The Next Walk

We had a booth set up on the
"Walkway Over the Hudson" collecting
donations and giving out information. Specialists from Castle Point were giving out medical benefits information to veterans.
September 11th
General Montgomery Day parade in the village of Montgomery, live music, fireworks and more. We collected donations and gave out information. Parking was available at the Valley Central High School (Rt. 17k) with a bus service to the village. There was also parking at Veterans Memorial park and at Strober Building Supply.

We had a table set up at the Shoprite of Poughkeepsie for a "Fill The Trailer" food drive in the Southhills Mall.
Employees of the Outreach Program attended to give out medical benefits information to veterans. Rolling Thunder also attended and sold Rolling Thunder shirts.

Poughkeepsie, NY. This event was a fund raiser for the
VFW's general fund.

Food Fight For Vets Walk

We collected money, and non perishable food for the Castle Point food pantry. Registration is was from 11am - noon. The walk started at noon and went from Thorton's garage Rte. 9D (W.Main St.) Wappingers Falls, to Major McDonald Memorial Park and back. No one was required to walk but people came out to show support. There was no registration fee

We were in Bowdoin Park on Sheafe Rd. Poughkeepsie for the anual Pow Wow. We set up a booth to collect donations and hand out information.
Food Drive

The Amercian Legion of Pleasent Valley and walkway over the Hudson helped us hold a food drive. We had a booth set up at both ends of the walkway collecting non-perishable food and cash donations.

Cady Field Route 44, behind the Town Hall in Pleasant Valley, there was a softball game for veterans. Military Police V. National Guard.

Shop Rite of Poughkeepsie (South Hills Mall) invited Food Fight For Vets to hold a fund raiser BBQ for the food pantry. We also handed out a lot of information. And gained several more supporters of Food Fight For Vets.
Veterans Appreciation Day

In Hyde Park we had a booth set up with information about Food Fight For Vets and the food pantry at Castle Point. This was a fun event for the Veterans and their families.
"Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans"
The Roosa Fleming Post 161, in Port Jervis, invited all veterans and their families to the first annual "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans" celebration. Which was free for all veterans. This event was on March 28th starting at noon at VFW Post 161, 47-51 Owen St, Port Jervis, New York. We gave out a lot of information about the food pantry.
Food Drive
We were inside the Poughkeepsie Shop Rite on Saturday and Sunday, February 27th and 28th. The food drive went from 10am-5pm. We collected $2500 in food and $804 in cash for the castle point food pantry.
Turkey Drive
We were at the Fishkill Shop Rite on Rt.9 collecting turkeys (and non perishable food) for the Castle Point Food Pantry; November 8th-11th. All four days we were there from 10am to 5pm. We collected $2183 in cash and aprox. $1200 in food.
Pow Wow
We had a booth set up at the Pow Wow in Ringwood, New Jersey on September 12 and 13. This Pow Wow went from 11am-6pm both days. We sold Food Fight For Vets t-shirts and bags, gave out information, and collected aprox. $300 in donations.
Pow Wow
We had a table set up at the Carmel Pow Wow from 10:00am until 6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday August 15th and 16th. We collected a little over $300. We gave out information, kids' necklaces, and flags. It rained but not for long; over all it was a great weekend.
Picnic In The Park
We had a table set up at Mesier Park in the Village of Wappingers Falls around 10:45am for the Picnic In The Park and Parade on Sunday, July 13th. I think it was a great opportunity to get outside and have fun; with family, friends, or both. Everyone I saw had a great time. It was a beautiful day, the giant fried dough was delicious, and the henna looked very cool.
Moving Wall
From 8am til 10pm, Thursday through Sunday, June 4th through 7th, Rolling thunder hosted the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, the 'moving wall' is an 80%-size replica of the Washington, DC 'Vietnam Memorial wall'. It was free for the public. This was an important event; a chance to honor the fallen and show your support for those still fighting.
Tag Sale
From 9am to 3pm, on Saturday and Sunday, April 25th and 26th, Food Fight For Vets had a Tag sale, at 95 Market st., in the Village of Wappingers Falls. All $170 collected was used to put food on the shelves in the food pantry at Castle Point.
Penny Social
At the Memorial Building on Main Street in Beacon, Carmen Ramputi Det. 861, held a Penny Social from noon until 3pm on, Saturday, April 4th. A portion of the money collected was donated to Food Fight For Vets.
Veterans Appreciation Day
The Dutchess County Veterans Service Agency hosted its 3rd annual Dutchess County Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, November 8th. The event was held at the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home in Hyde Park, NY. It went from noon to 3pm. We had a table set up there and we gave out information and balloons for kids.
Tag Sale
From 9:00am until 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday; September 13th and 14th, we held a tag sale at 95 Market St., in the Village of Wappingers Falls. We raised a total of $193 in both days.
Food Drive
We had a table set up from 9:00am until 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 30th and 31st, at Stop+Shop in Wappingers Falls. We gave out information and collected $700 in non perishable food, $755 in cash and $35 in checks.
Food Drive
We had a table set up at Shop Rite at the South Hills mall. We collected a small box of non perishable food and aprox. $100; we were there from 9am until 3pm on Saturday, August 2nd.
Pow Wow
We had a table set up Saturday,Sunday, and Monday; May 24, 25, and 26 at the pow wow in Bowdoin Park which is at 85 Sheaf Rd. Wappingers Falls, NY. At the pow wow we collected donations(4 bags of food, several packages of canned food, and about $200 between cash and checks) and gave out information. There was fantastic dancing, and beautiful hand crafted jewlery, knives, feathers, and fabrics you could buy; and the birds of prey show was phenomenal.
